Getting Unauthorized message on Shibboleth protected site

Hello,

We are having an issue authenticating to a Shibboleth SP on an apache hosted site. In our httpd.conf file we have selected the directory to protect with Shibboleth authentication, but when we are redirected to it from our identity provider, we get the error:

Unauthorized
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

Looking at the shibd.log with verbose logging enabled, all of the required attributes are being sent correctly from our identity provider. Are there any suggestions what might be the cause?
