A way to temporarily block authentications for an SP?

Hello,

How would I go about blocking authentication for a given SP, temporarily,
on the Shibboleth IdP server?

I could simply remove the SP's configuration, but was wondering if there
was a more gentle way? maybe even giving the user a custom message?
