Highly, highly questionable. Nothing works normally there.

I wouldn't spend an inordinate amount of time on it. They could rewrite the status page in Velocity, or just use the metrics support, the status page itself is more of a legacy feature at this point, the metrics were intended to be the more "machine readable" version.
