Assistance with IDP upgrade - LDAP source

Alan,
I was looking for anything regarding upgrading the IDP software from v2 to v3.
As opposed to the SP upgrade (which went without a hitch), the IDP upgrade was much more difficult as there were major changes and the upgrade didn’t address “converting” all that I needed to change for me. Maybe that wasn’t possible, but without doing the conversion for me, it left me with trying to figure out what to change and how to change it.
It would’ve been nice if there were examples (vs a wiki that just defined things) for:
Making all LDAP-related changes required
Re-instituting a custom logo and custom text for logon/logoff/error screens
Ensuring that the same attributes are returned to relying partners as in V2
I had to hunt and peck around and finally had to join the user list to ask. It would’ve been nice to have a one-stop-shop for info on what changed, what needs to be addressed and examples of how to accomplish that.
I can only speak from my experience, but the goal for me was to not spend a significant amount of time to accomplish this. It didn’t help that I also had to upgrade tomcat and java for the same install.
If this was my only project and was my main area of concentration, I would welcome the effort.
Unfortunately, due to staffing, it’s really just another side project that I’ve seemed to inherit.
I guess that I’m old school, but I prefer functional “cookbook” type docs vs. what we see now in the industry.
Please don’t take the above as a complaint, but rather as information that could hopefully assist the next poor chap in a situation similar to mine ☺
Thanks for your assistance in this matter.
Joel

hi,
Now it logs me on… but it looks like no attributes are being passed – that’s next to solve
great
Thanks for all of your help!
thats okay - if you could give a pointer to the areas you were looking at when trying to get things working, then the project can ensure that theres an obvious link to that resource.
cheers
alan
