I have been advocating for using Shib SP/SAML as the SSO for our Peoplesoft environment for a few years (we are just now starting to use F5).
If you want a real hack use my CAS SSO solution for Peoplesoft.

Hi,
If you are using a F5 BigIP load balancer, the APM (Access Policy) feature has SAML SP support. We integrated it with our Shibboleth IDP without difficulty. This way you don't need to proxy through Apache httpd and Shibboleth, the BigIP takes care of that. You need to use HTTP headers to pass information from the BigIP to the application, however.

We looked at native SAML support for weblogic but could not make any sense of the documentation nor get a proof of concept working.
