Peoplesoft & Shibboleth

Greetings,

We are looking at supporting SSO for our Oracle Peoplesoft apps.  I've
gathered from the list archives that putting an Apache Proxy in front
would be the best option.  Apache, with shib modules, is responsible
for SSO.  Peoplesoft no longer performs authentication and simply
trusts the environment variables set by Apache to determine who the
user is.

The concern from Management and Peoplesoft admins is that this method
may be a bit 'hackish'.  I would like to assure these folks that this
in fact runs in production for a number of large educational
institutions.  Could you kindly let me know if you run an IdP and have
this setup in production?  You're welcome to contact me off-list if you
