change of response URL

[Rohit Shinde]

I am implementing shibboleth for ruby-on-rails app where this gem is used https://github.com/onelogin/ruby-saml <https://github.com/onelogin/ruby-saml>
I should not be using this gem?
I can see session variables like in mydomain/Shibboleth.sso/Session:
Attributes
displayName: Rohit Shinde
givenName: Rohit
mail:rohit at msu.edu

Can I get get this email from my homeURL ? Asking because browser is redirecting to https://mydomain/Shibboleth.sso/SAML2/POST <https://mydomain/Shibboleth.sso/SAML2/POST>  and then immediately to homeURL as per SAMLTracer.
