user value in CAS ticket validation

I'm trying to convert a service from LDAP authN to CAS. The (vended)
service supports CAS but not SAML, and consumes only the "user" from CAS -
not any additional attributes that may be included.
Internal accounts on this service are indexed to a employee number rather
than username, so I need to provide that employee number as the "user" if
transitioning to CAS (or a less acceptable solution of asking the service
owner to re-map all the existing accounts to a new key).
Is there way to configure CAS (in Shibb 3.2) to specify the cas:user
attribute in ticket validation response?
