You cannot mix and match V2 and V3 relying-party formats.  You want to schedule moving off the V2 format reasonable expeditiously -
if it isn't already it will be deprecated in the next minor release (3.4) and will be entirely unsupported in V4.

People have found that the relying-party syntax much more convenient to use.  

The details of doing the conversion are copiously documented.
