SP with multiple Tomcat instances

Peter, thanks for the reply with good points. In a production environment I
would configure the virtual hosts with different names or use ProxyPass
settings for different paths as you suggest. 

In the case of the virtual hosts with different names, of course I would
need to add AssertionConsumerService Location entries for each VirtualHost
(not including ports). We did not do this in our development environment
because of the absurd fact that the people who control our DNS are
unresponsive to us.

The mapping of paths would have worked except that we are working with the
Oracle REST Data Services application, and it has trouble finding some
static files under that arrangement without addition configuration of that
application.
