Hey, look at that, it works! I now have all (ECP or Browser-initiated) authentication failure messages in my log, produced by ldaptive. You simplified my setup and accomplished my original goal!

vt-ldap is EOL, and there is nothing you need to do to with 3.x at all, ECP is supported automatically unless you're using non-password authentication, which isn't going to just work with the container anyway. For password authentication "do nothing". Whatever you did, undo it. That's all.
