AFAIR the installer leaves a log file behind.

If your installation is corrupt you could try doing a repair from the control panel.

Finally - you are coming from an .ac.uk domain so you can reach out to the excellent guys at the UK federation help desk, since the
best help you'll get here from the developers is in their spare time..
