client authenticated IdP metadata

Is it possible to have the service provider retrieve the IdP metadata from
a client-authenticated server?  I can see that it's possible to have an IdP
make a client-authenticated connection to a service provider (
https://wiki.shibboleth.net/confluence/display/IDP30/HttpClientConfiguration#HttpClientConfiguration-TLSClientAuthentication).
Can I configure the SP to make a similar request to get the IdP metadata?
