Xerces and 3.3.2

Can someone tell why a clean install of shibboleth idp 3.3.2 running on Jetty
9.2 with openjdk 8 throws this error:

Error creating bean with name 'shibboleth.ParserPool' defined in file
[/opt/shibboleth-idp/system/conf/global-system.xml]: Invocation of init
method failed; nested exception is java.lang.IllegalArgume
ntException: com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.util.SecurityManager cannot
be cast to org.apache.xerces.util.SecurityManager
Caused by:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException:
com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.util.SecurityManager cannot be cast to
org.apache.xerces.util.SecurityManager

I was under the impression that all of the above was supported for running
shibboleth. I've only been able to find references to this error with
version 2 of shibboleth.
