Arguably though it's just as easy to grab the checked in flow changes for 3.4 and drop those in as a second example and build logic off of that one new flow, since it handles all this for you without requiring all the extra duplication.

I don't ever say that in documentation because that's not the sort of thing somebody just reading docs should probably do, but it's a pretty simple exercise.
