MetadataProvider sortKey and MDUI

We're trying to override an InCommon-registered SP's MDUI information using a local edition, but sortKey does not seem to work for this purpose.

By loading the same entity twice and a sortKey, it appears as though sortKey affects SAML stuff, but not the Velocity view.

Has anyone gotten sortKey to impact login.vm, or if not, do you have another way you do your overrides?
