We're using the Shibboleth plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/shibboleth/).
It works very well and it seems to be well written and maintained.  I
needed to extend the plugin so that it would provision a site on first
login and it was fairly easy to integrate my code to accomplish that.

This particular plugin works with the locally running Shibboleth SP
software, so technically, its not an SP.  However, integrating a Shibboleth
SP installation with a Shibboleth IdP is a piece of cake!
