Thanks Scott... so the metadata file for the SP is invalid or corrupt maybe?

The debug log does not seem to contain any additional hints as to what's
wrong with that file... just that

Metadata Resolver FilesystemMetadataResolver HTTPMetadataEMAINT: *Metadata
backing store does not contain any EntityDescriptors with the
ID: https://testx32.emaint.com/SAML <https://testx32.emaint.com/SAML>*

But he XML file seems to contain the correct ID :
