So, with that said, Ian, what would the Spring code look like to perform a conditional get in comparison to what's in the IdP?

Yes, it does.
I need to be more precise, I think.
The aggregator-pipeline package doesn't have spring-extensions as a dependency. However, almost any use of "the aggregator" involves Spring configuration, so spring-extensions is bundled in with the distributable _as if it were_ a runtime dependency.
