A full DEBUG trace attached to a bug report would be the next step, but it sounds like there's a bug doing the match, or if not a bug than a design limitation. The problem is almost certainly the SP changing the NameID. My inclination would be to try and fix it, but I would have to look at the code.

Either way, it's not going to work anytime soon if you don't fix the SP (or if it's not your code, well, it's not going to work).
