The soonest you could experience an (intentional) problem with what you had would be 4.0. We're not allowed to break anything else without fixing it, unless we had to change something for a security-driven reason. That wouldn't be likely here.

I did migrate that but not at first, it just wasn't that important. Once I had other work done and had the chance to go back and clean it up, it was nice to get rid of all the messages I wasn't using or changing so I didn't have to wade through them.

The messages change was mostly made mid-release in order to make it easier for translations to get created and installed, that was really messy with the original layout.
