That's because you're using the V3 format, he's trying not to.

There just isn't anything exposed in the legacy support for this, and arguably we should have left it SHA-1 but at the time we felt that it was going to be too long a transition to do that so we flipped it, but there's no flip back feature exposed. I'm just not in a position to spend the hour or two this week finding out how we did all of it and coming up with an answer, and add in "asked by non-funder of project" and you get <shrug> at least until I get some time.
