Where is java_home detected from by the installer?

We would point to what the Shibboleth project say, which is what I did
here.  In terms of experience then we have probably been using Tomcat
longer.  Anyway, the immediate issue do not relate to Jetty..

As Scott says and as the error indicates, it is your Attribute Resolver
file..

Your welcome to send a sanitised copy to us in the UK federation team  
service at ukfederation.org.uk for us to look at, but please check for and
remove salt, usernames, passwords etc.. before sending.

The log from 'further up' as Scott pointed you to would also be useful
to us in reviewing that.

Quite a lot of the syntax changed in v3.3.0 as a result of 
https://issues.shibboleth.net/jira/browse/IDP-813, so I wouldn't be
surprised if it's that...
