Monitor connections on shibboleth

Forgot to say the obvious, which is that I monitor via the status page and by scripting service account logins to various services. I've never really needed much else, but I also have dabbled in notifying via email when certain log output appears, which is fairly simple to set up.

Depends what you mean by connections, and in any case the new metrics support is in 3.3, not the unsupported version you're on.
But there aren't really a whole lot of metrics defined for that sort of thing yet, it needs study. There is a new status implementation in JSON though by serving up some of what has been defined so far. We have gotten no real feedback on any of the new stuff so far.
