It's orthogonal to Shibboleth (on the IdP side); it is what we're all telling you: use a browser. The internal details of that are what this AppAuth thing is dealing with, and I don't have anything to say either way about iOS or Android, I don't know them. What I know is that the world has more or less decided that you login to federated IdPs with a browser interface, and that can therefore be mediated on the RP end with any of the standard and non-standard WebSSO protocols that exist. If you want Shibboleth to be among them, then you have to operate your SP end with one of the protocols it supports, SAML or CAS.
