Then what is the behaviour you consider faulty?
Yes, the intended flow is from the IDP to the SP's SAML protocol
handling endpoint. That is not an error.
What would be an error though is if processing stopped at that point.

If that is what you're saying (you're stuck at
/Shibboleth.sso/SAML2/POST) then your webserver + shibboleth SP is
misconfigured -- as is clearly the case from your other thread, where
you can't even connect to the Status handler successfully.
