Login page help/direction

Howdy all!
As I mentioned before I'm still a newbie with shibboleth so some of my
terminology may be incorrect. (try to read between the lines if possible)
I have an idp 3.3.1 test environment. I have it configured for RemoteUser
Authentication and it uses an existing CAS server for Authentication.
So when a user attempts access an SP they are redirected to our CAS server
for authentication (against ldap) but the idp server still gets the
attribute to passes along (also from ldap).
Hope that makes sense so far.
What I would like to do now is test out the CAS protocl features of idp
3.3. I believe I have partially done this successfully, I can access our
idp server using the
url "/idp/profile/cas/login?https://myapp.ourschool.edu" after
authenticating (from our existing cas server) I get sent along to where I
want to go.
But now I need to know where to start to take our old CAS server out of the
authentication process. I think I need a "login" page or form of some sort
and I think
I probably need to use a different login method. I still want to
authenticte up against the same ldap server.
Should I be looking at "PasswordAuthnConfiguration" and using
view/login.vm (is this a default login page?)
Thanks for any input.
