Metadata Filter

According to the wiki page, the ChainingMetadataProvider supports any of the usual child elements, which would include MetadataFilter. Does that then mean, if I want to have MetadataFilter rules that apply to all my "chained" metadata sources, I can have a set of MetadataFilter rules "at the end of the chain"? For example, because I want to have some "add EntityAttributes filters", and I don't want to worry about which source has the metadata in it for a given SP? And, if I want to do that, do I need to be explicit about specifying the ChainingMetadataProvider element?

p.s. Of course, that implies that at least for most of those MetadataFilter rules, I'd be specifying an Entity or conditionRef/conditionScript (3.4) to identify which to apply the filters to.
