We already use Shibboleth on our ASP.NET sites via headers and so on. Our current hurdle is integration with .NET CORE sites because of the way it runs outside the IIS process. We aren't even able to get the Shibboleth filter to work since it returns a 404.

The SP already available supports anything running on IIS but has no special integration with .NET, the interface is strictly headers. A version available in beta testing that was announced on the dev list provides an updated module with .NET integration of various sorts. It will be released late this year or early next as part of 3.0.
