We just started a pilot use of http://apporto.com and since the software
licenses can be different in each country, we need to know where the
particular user is. NYU has campuses in Abu Dhabi and Shanghai, and
educational centers in Ghana (Accra), Argentina (Buenos Aires), Israel (Tel
Aviv), Australia (Sydney) and Europe
(Florence, London, Madrid, Paris, Prague). We have the primary location of
each user in our LDAP but students and faculaties are moving around the
locations and this movement is not recorded into any source of information
we use during authentication. The idea is to use IP geolocation and provide
attribute contains the country where the principal is on the fly.
