Alternatively give the IdP some metadata, real or not, and hit the Unsolicited SSO endpoint specifying the entityID in that metadata and the IdP will at least go far enough to log you in and then generate a response that dead ends.

Or try testshib.org, as its function is for doing initial "get feet wet" testing.
