Hi, Virajitha.
The similar problem was discussed in this mailing list in the conversation with label: REMOTE_USER authentication (http://shibboleth.net/pipermail/users/2016-September/031464.html).
Is it useful for you?
Roman

Hi,

I am trying to use "RemoteUser" authentication. The reason for using this is explained below:
I have a client web application A that has its own authentication mechanism. I am also setting up IDP for SSO across multiple applications. I want that the web application performs authentication and just tells IDP to maintain session for this user. i.e.,
1. user access the web application.
2. web application asks for user credentials and authenticates him
3. web application tells IDP to maintain the session for this user.

For this I am trying to use "RemoteUser" authentication. I have configured the IDP (idp.properties) to use RemoteUser. And after the web application authenticates the user, i simply call the /Authn/remoteUser servlet. But the servlet is throwing "Conversation key not set error". I tried to find some kind of documentation on this but couldnot find any.
Could you please let me know:
1. if "remoteUser" authentication method can be used for my use case scenario?
2. If else, how the conversaiton key error can be resolved?

Thanks and Regards,
Virajitha
