It isn't a Shibboleth feature, it's a SAML feature.

None, but perhaps the problem is that you're forcing the login to Dataverse by routing things manually through the session initiator in the SP and you're not giving it a target parameter, so when it finishes up and creates a session, it doesn't know where to send the client at the end to get logged into the application. Nothing to do with the SP and nothing anybody here can speak to, it's an integration issue.
