I see, now.  Yes, that did cause the Name ID to be generated.

That's the default, uncommenting it won't do anything. I didn't refer to any properties as being the problem, I said you didn't uncomment the generator plugin in saml-nameid.xml

I don't think the wiki highlights that step, not even sure it mentions it, so it's a documentation error. I'm in the middle of debugging something or I would fix it right now.
