How to check whether IdP is functioning properly

Hi,

Concerning a production instance of Shibboleth IdP V3, what would you
suggest as the best URL to check, from a monitoring perspective?
We just want a HTTP 200 response and if needed at all some validity
checking on the response data.

The status page is no longer available, it seems. I also could not find a
working URL that exposes the SAML metadata about the SP.
