Or, I’ll kill it by accident.

The update from here is that I’ve read through a few publicly available Puppet scripts and none of them struck me as the implementation I want to base a deployment on without further modifications.

Given local resourcing constraints, urgency, and specializations, I’m actively considering using the Windows installer in roughly the same capacity.  I have nothing to commend one approach over the other at this point.  I’m trying to get to a sustainable installation that requires less local system administration, and writing our own configuration management scripts doesn’t rhyme with systainable.

Extensive configuration migration is going to be necessary no matter what, so we have things we can work on that don’t commit us to either deployment approach.  We’re going to start there.
