Oops, my mistake. I misread SP as IdP when I said it couldn't be connected to the software.

Yes, obviously this is a fairly non-specific issue in that case, your IdP is simply not configured the same way now. If you didn't upgrade and tried to copy your configuration, then that was your main mistake.
