Profile Intercept and Filtered Attributes

In a custom profile intercept bean how do I access an attribute for
authorization which is filtered out in the attribute-filter.xml? ie I want
to use an attribute for authorization but I don't want to release it to
SP's.

I have been getting the attributes out of the attribute context but they
don't appear to be present in this case.
