That isn't relevant to this thread, it wouldn't hang.

That's not the IdP code, so that wouldn't really be a test. The log will
tell you if it doesn't like the certificate or the name match. Wildcards
are fine (OSU uses them in the NetScaler in front of the LDAP pools I
have to connect to).
