Yes, with or without local storage. You want single logout, you have to use local storage, otherwise cookies alone are fine.

Local storage has been running here in production since I upgraded and nothing much has been reported that had anything to do with it. It falls back to cookies anyway. It is a little noticeable unfortunately, but that can't be avoided. I wouldn't use it if not for logout and if I don't get the accessibility issues with that fixed, I'll just switch back to cookies.
