StartTLS trouble

I'm having some issues with StartTLS and shibboleth 3.2.1 ... I'm getting hostname of server does not match hostname in the server's certificate. ... But, the CN for the server certificate is the ldap servers ip address and shibboleth is setup to connect to ldap with that ip. I have the client cert and the servers cert setup in the data connector in the attribute resolver. I might be missing something obvious but I'm not seeing it. Any help is appreciated.
