Yes, Michael, we do use EZproxy. Now we would also like to implement Shibboleth. I heard that Shibboleth and Ezproxy can work together but I am not sure if it is difficult to configure.
Thanks,
Wei

As it pertains to library stuff, do you folks already use EZproxy? .. that supports shib and there's an Internet2 howto :
https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/inclibrary/Shibboleth+-+EZproxy+HOW-TO
A lot of the big academic publishers (aka databases .. like Elsevier) are already part of InCommon so federation is quite simple once you get your idp published.

Thank you, peter, for clarifying. Yes, I do mean e-resource providers. I am sorry for the confusion.
Thank you, Cantor and Charles, for your quick response. And thank you everybody for your time.

Given that your signature states this:

I guess you meant "database vendors" to refer to "e-resource providers" or academic publishers, i.e., (often commercial) subscription-based services for e-journal and (citation, etc.) database access?
If so you could poke around in MET https://met.refeds.org/ to see what services have registered with at least one known (to MET) academic federation on the planet, e.g. Elsevier, SpringerLink, tandf, Emerald, etc.pp.
If you're looking for a single list maybe take a look at the 1041 "Service Providers" (selected "Entity Type" on top) currently available in eduGAIN:
https://technical.edugain.org/entities
Quite a few of those will be what library folks might consider database vendors.

-peter
