'Deep linking' in Shibboleth

Hi,

I am trying to understand what benefit deep linking in Shibboleth can
provide us.... so little confused here.

Is 'Deep linking' actually 'IDP-initiated SSO'?

I have worked with IDP-initiated SSO but never played with 'deep linking'.
