The Shibboleth.net entities predate eduGAIN so they are of course "registered" in multiple federations. Some of those registrations are less formal than others, I think it's fair to say.

The UK federation registration is (what I regard as) the canonical one just now, on the basis that it is the only registration by Jisc, in their role as Consortium managers.
