There certainly is REFEDS R&S. First sentence on that page:

  "Research and Education Federations are invited to use the
  REFEDS Research and Scholarship Entity Category ..."

If InCommon migrated away from their own entity catetory URI and
matching definition (whatever that was/is, it wasn't
'http://refeds.org/category/research-and-scholarship') that's
certainly fine with me.

Neither of those has identical text to the REFEDS R&S definition:
https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/InCFederation/Research+and+Scholarship+Category
https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/InCFederation/Research+and+Scholarship+Attribute+Bundle
So I assume it is something else (even if it's "the original" from
which REFEDS R&S was copied/spawned/forked).
