computedID in idpv3

In my idpv2 config, I defined eduPersonTargetedID based on top of the
computedID dataconnector. In v3 this data connector is deprecated? And
evidentally still around mostly for supporting exactly what I'm using it
for :). But given the caveat that it may be removed in a future version,
is there something else I should be doing or working on migrating
towards? I have a number of SP's who are using eduPersonTargetedID as a
unique identifier so things would break somewhat horribly if it just
suddenly started returning different values one day 8-/.

For now I guess I'm just going to keep using it, but I'd like to have a
plan in place before it goes kaput ;).
