I think you'll have to adapt those docs for v3, but should be possible.
Take a look at
https://wiki.shibboleth.net/confluence/display/IDP30/RemoteUserAuthnConfiguration
and
see if that helps. You'll need to scope the CAS filters to whatever servlet
path is involved in the remote user mech if there is one, otherwise you may
have to scope them to "/profile/*".
