Filtering has nothing to do with resolution. I gave you a couple of ways you can deal with this:

a) stop using the deprecated mechanism and supporting eduPersonTargetedID as a SAML Attribute

or

b) add an activationCondition to that data connector to check for CAS and bypass the resolution process for that connector
