Okay, thanks, here's a link to the exact 32MB file I was referring to:

$ MD_LOCATION=http://mdq-beta.incommon.org/global/entities
$ curl --silent --dump-header /dev/tty $MD_LOCATION > /dev/null
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Sat, 12 Sep 2015 18:23:03 GMT
X-Application-Context: application:sign:80
Content-Language: en
Content-Type: application/samlmetadata+xml; charset=UTF-8
ETag: "186d0ae16c956e1e4b9d3c4546e389dc10c7c9b6"
Content-Length: 32026066
Server: Jetty(9.2.11.v20150529)

InCommon deployments will be consuming exactly that file, but of
course not at that location.

NOTE: Server mdq-beta.incommon.org will be decommissioned on March 1,
2016. For details about the Per-Entity Metadata Pilot project, see:
https://spaces.internet2.edu/x/3w7kAg

Instructions how to obtain an authentic copy of the corresponding
metadata signing certificate are on the above web page.

Thanks TomZ.
