Reasons to use/not use HTML local storage?

All,

I'm trying to decide if we want to enable HTML local storage in production in a few weeks or wait a few months to break in it in our test environment. I'd like to benefits of SAML logout through client-side storage. But I'm not sure if this feature is truly production ready as that seems to be hinted at on the Wiki:

"Until we gain further experience (and really, until somebody runs this in   production), we won't know what we don't know."

If I'm opening myself up to potential security risks or potentially breaking support for clients (even those that do support Javascript), it's obviously not time yet. I guess my question comes down to how production ready is this feature?
